Top 5 Money Saving Tips for Quoting
When ordering Plastic Business Cards you are getting the best value out of your marketing dollars compared to say personalized pens, keychains, or other such novelties. In this article I will cover 5 ways to save even more money when quoting your cards.Â
1. Experiment with Higher Quantities:
In most printing situations ordering a larger quantity will lower your price per piece, or in our case your price per card. This happens because a percent of your total printing cost comes from making plates, setting up the press, and getting up to color.
If you are quoting lower quantities such as 1-499 try increasing it to 500, 1500, 2500, just to get a feel for your pricing. While entail a larger investment you will be saving alot of money over time.
2. Design with Colors Efficiently:
In offset printing every color printed requires a plate to be made and a head on the press inked. Because of this increasing colors increases your cost per piece. By removing unnecessary colors you can often create a bolder design with more contrast, AND save money by reducing your cost.

3. Group Business Cards Together for a Higher Quantity:
If you will be ordering several versions of plastic business cards, you and a friend are ordering business cards, or you need some gift cards, membership cards, or loyalty cards group them together for a lower gang run rate. By doing this you can have a lower price per card since your total quantity is more.
4. Utilize “Name Dropping” with your Business Cards:
To utilize Name Dropping on your plastic business cards you must make a card that has the ability to add names and unique information with a single plate. This is common practice with larger companies and corporations. It allows you to quote a larger quantity, getting a lower price per card and only paying additional for the plates used for individual names.
Example:
Company ABC Needs:
500 cards for John Smith
1000 cards for Alex Jones
500 cards for Mary Beth
and 500 cards for John Doe
In this case the ABC Company would quote 2500 cards and then add 4 plates for name dropping making their order much cheaper than ordering 500, 500, 500, and 1000. Give it a try on our instant online quote system!
